Can women have it all?

I've just finished watching Hilary Devey's 'Women at the top' documentary and I have got to say it surprised me at how there is a serious shortage of females in the highest positions within business.

Its no secret that women have always had to work that little bit harder to get to the highest positions in the workplace. But to have such a small proportion of female directors and CEO's is disappointing and us girls need to push harder to get on top of the lads!

Hilary is the chairman and CEO of Pall-ex; a delivery network for Europe and the UK.  There are currently 10 men on the Pall-ex board and only one women, Hilary herself.

'I did not let being a women stand in my way; if i can do it, anybody can do it!'

Hilary's success is something all of us girls can aspire too! We don't have to follow in societies trends. Time and time again, women reach a stage in ther late twenties where they panic as their biological clock begins to tick.

But why sacrifice success to be a stay-at-home mum?

Yes - we would all love to see our children grow and develop but this does not mean we cannot have a successful career as well! It makes me so angry when I hear from women who feel they need to give up their job just to follow societies expectations and stereotypes to look after the children at home whilst the men go out to work.

If your good at your job, then you CAN have the best of both worlds. I'm not saying it will be easy but its certainly achievable.

Us girls need to work harder and get closer to that 50:50 Board members split!

Rant over.

Much Love
